A Special Labor Day 2020 Message

For many people, Labor Day signifies a three-day weekend and the last hurrah of summer. We hope you enjoy the long weekend with your families and friends. For us at Enterprise Bank, Labor Day is an important holiday to thank our Enterprise family team members and to recognize and celebrate the social and economic achievements of all workers and their contributions toward our country.

Enterprise Bank was founded in 1988 to help create successful businesses, jobs, opportunities and vibrant communities. Every Enterprise team member contributes to our Enterprise. We know that our progress as an organization is principally due to the quality and dedication of our people. They have made Enterprise Bank what it is today. We thank every member of our Enterprise Bank family, as well as our customers and shareholders, for their contributions to our progress, as we honor all those who work hard to chase their dreams and move forward in life.

Labor Day was founded by workers struggling for equity and justice. In an attempt to ease tension with workers, Congress passed an act making Labor Day a legal holiday in June 1894. Today, 126 years after the Labor Day holiday was signed into law, we find ourselves in a similar period, as people of color across the country face racism, discrimination, inequality, and injustice. America is a country founded on the promise of freedom and opportunity. However, we know that this has not been an equal promise for all people.

On this Labor Day—and every day—it falls on all of us as individuals, families, and businesses to address and reverse this course. Change starts with every individual, organization and community listening, understanding, and taking action to improve. Enterprise Bank has always been rooted in community, and, now more than ever, our Black community needs our unwavering support.

Our hearts and minds are open. We are committed to better understanding the causes of continued racial inequality in America and finding solutions to it. We want to learn from each other, broaden our perspectives, and commit ourselves to doing better. We are committed to being advocates for equality and justice.

Sincerely,

Jack Clancy
