Veterans Day Message

On Veterans Day, we honor the courageous men and women who have answered the call of service to protect and defend our country. We thank them for their service and sacrifice, and for preserving the liberties and freedom we all enjoy.

In 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, an armistice (a temporary cessation of hostilities) went into effect between the Allied nations and Germany during World War I. Seven months later, on June 28, 1919, the war officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

On November 11 of that same year, Armistice Day was first commemorated. In 1938, through an act of Congress, it became a U.S. federal holiday. However, in 1954, in the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Congress amended the act, changing ‘Armistice Day’ to ‘Veterans Day’—an observance honoring all American veterans.

In recognition of Veterans Day, Enterprise Bank is pleased to support local organizations that provide services and support to our military veterans. From October 16 through November 18, 2023, Enterprise Bank will collect items to be donated to local organizations in our service area that support veterans.

To help alleviate some of the basic needs and challenges faced by local veterans, our branches will be accepting donations of new cold-weather items such as hats, gloves, and scarves, which will be donated to organizations serving veterans in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Donations collected at our New Hampshire branches will be presented to Liberty House.

Donations collected at Massachusetts branches will be presented to Veterans Northeast Outreach Center.

Please join us this Veterans Day—and every day—in thanking and honoring our U.S. military veterans.
